MINERAL WELLS -A company that provides food packaging will hold a ribbon-cutting for the opening of its plastic recycling facility Tuesday. PWP Industries will have an opening ceremony 11 a.m. Tuesday to unveil its new facility as well as a deal with a national soft drink company. Gov. Joe Manchin and several area officials and company representatives will be on hand.
The company recently completed an 80,000-square-foot addition to the back of its Mineral Wells site. The new section will serve as plastic recycling facility. PWP will work with Coca-Cola Recycling LLC to recycle PETE post-consumer bottles into FDA compliant resin for food contact, company officials said. Company officials said the recycling facility is expected to initially bring 23 jobs to the area. "This is a great deal for the country and a great deal for the green industry," Burdette said. In the November 2008 "Open For Business Report" from Manchin's office, the West Virginia Economic Development Authority approved a $3 million loan to the Polymer Alliance Zone Inc. (PAZ) to build the addition on the three-acre site in Mineral Wells. PWP Industries was founded in 1998 and became part of HPC Industries LLC in 2001. In 2002, manufacturing facilities were consolidated into a renovated state-of-the-art facility in Vernon, Calif. A second plant was established in 2003 in Mineral Wells and expanded in 2006 to include polypropylene production. |
