Free disposal/recycling event on Feb. 5 at Polymer Tech Park in Davisville Businesses, organizations and residents of Wood County and the Mid-Ohio Valley can recycle their old or inoperable electronic devices for free during a recycling event to be held in the Polymer Technology Park (1 Polymer Way) in Davisville, West Virginia from 8:00 a.m. – 5:30 p.m. on Friday, February 5, 2010, event organizers announced. The event – hosted by After Life Electronics in partnership with the Polymer Alliance Zone – provides an opportunity to get rid of unused or outdated electronics and helps the environment at the same time. After Life Electronics, headquartered near Elizabeth, WV, specializes in electronics recycling. “Recycling your old electronic devices, like computers, cell phones, and fax machines, helps keep these materials out of landfills and creates jobs through the re-processing and re-creation of these devices,” said Chris Drennen, president of After Life Electronics. Drennen said the following products will be accepted: Computers (Towers), Monitors, Flat Screens, Laptops, Printers, copiers, Fax Machines, Projectors, Handheld Devices, Electronic Parts (power supplies, circuit boards, hard drives, cd-rom, floppy drives), Household items such as Radios, VCRs, Satellite Boxes, Cable Boxes, Small Appliances, Game Systems, Networking Equipment, Routers, Modems, Cell phones, Digital Cameras, Ink Cartridges, Toner Cartridges, and Battery Back-ups. Televisions will be accepted however there is a $10 per set disposal fee. Karen Facemyer, President of the Polymer Alliance Zone, an economic development organization marketing the plastic industry in West Virginia, said, “I would encourage everyone, and especially local businesses and organizations, to take advantage of this opportunity to dispose of your antiquated or unused electronics.” The Polymer Technology Park is located on South Meadville Road, approximately one mile past WVU-Parkersburg.
